SUSTAINABILITY

As we say Tales of Anyday is a clothing label with sustainability at the center of everything- deeply embedded in our heart. It is our main focus and value- sustainability is not a trend, it is a responsibility.

Fashion industry is pretty nasty and it's no secret anymore. Therefore, sustainability is the main characteristic of Tales of Anyday universe and the label is fully dedicated in investing all the efforts in creating sustainable garments in all aspects. Here you can read about the various ways we integrate sustainability into our daily life and products. But we are nowhere close to being done- so many more plans and goals are in the works.

MATERIALS

We only work with carefully selected materials that are breathable and not harmful to human skin and health.

LINEN

Linen is made from flax plants, a plant which grows without the need for fertilizers and pesticides. It is a renewable resource- is fast growing and can be produced without damaging the environment. It requires way less water than other plants used for fabric fibers. Natural rainfall is usually enough to water flax plants grown in Europe.

Linen actually lowers our carbon footprint. One hectare of flax can take 3.7 tonnes of CO2 out of the atmosphere. From all linen grown in Europe, approx. 250 000 tonnes of CO2 is removed each year! So lets grow more linen!

Linen is 100% biodegradable and recyclable. The entire flax plant can be woven into a fibre, which means that almost no waste is left over from the spinning and weaving process.

It is a perfect material for summer. It's hollow fibres allow air to easily pass through the fabric, keeping you cool and fresh. At the same time linen is also good for winter and cold weather. The hollow fibres also provide good thermo regulating properties. Meaning that linen will keep you warmer when the temperature drops. It also absorbs moisture without holding onto the bacteria as it is naturally anti-bacterial. Your clothes won't get  smelly and will require less frequent washing.

Linen is also cool, chic and timeless. All these qualities combined makes it one of our absolutely favorite materials.

ORGANIC COTTON

We only work with GOTS certified organic cotton. The Global Organic Textile Standard (GOTS) is the highest standard of textiles made of organic fibres, including ecological and social criteria, and is backed up by independent certification of the entire textile supply chain.

Some of the criteria that GOTS certificate ensures in the processing and manufacturing process of textiles:

  • Less energy and water is used
  • Hazardous pesticides are banned
  • Up to 94% less greenhouse emissions are produced
  • No forced labor and no child labor is used
  • No discrimination is practised
  • Grown alongside food, which feeds the farmers
  • Processing units must demonstrate environment management, including wastewater treatment
  • Technical quality parameters for colour fastness and shrinkage for finished goods required
  • Etc.

GOTS certificate covers all steps in processing, manufacturing and trading of organic testiles. All must be certified to strict ecological and social criteria in order to carry the GOTS label. In this way, the GOTS puts an end to greenwashing.

To some it all up- GOTS is pretty badass.

TENCEL™ LYOCELL

It is a fabric that is extra gentle to your skin, has enhanced breathability and long-lasting softness. And thanks to the Eco Color technology used for the dying process, the color has a long-lasting vibrancy and is less prone to fade even after repeated washing.

Tencel fibers are extracted from sustainably grown wood using a unique closed loop system which recovers and reuses the solvents used, minimizing the environmental impact of production. Unique physical properties lead to their high tenacity profile, efficient moisture management and gentleness to skin.

TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers help to maintain the environmental balance by being integrated into nature's cycle. The fibers originate from the renewable raw material wood, created by photosynthesis. The certified biobased fibers are manufactured using an environmentally responsible production process. The fibers are certified as compostable and biodegradable, and thus can fully revert back to nature.

REFIBRA™ & TENCEL™

The pioneering REFRIBA™ technology involves upcycling cotton scraps e.g. from garment production, in addition to wood pulp, where the raw material is transformed to produce new virgin TENCEL™ Lyocell fibers to make fabrics and garments.

PRODUCTION

Producing our garments in a socially responsible and respectful way are of greatest importance to us. Therefore we only work with trusted partners. Most of our samples are made in-house in Copenhagen. And most of manufacturing takes place in the Baltics- mainly in Lithuania and Latvia.

DESIGN & LONGEVITY

We do not compromise style and aesthetic appeal. For us it is one of the sustainability factors. The central theme in the labels work is design that can last and remain appealing through many seasons. Tales of Anyday also focuses highly on creating products of high quality as it is vital for the garment to be able to be in use for a long period of time.

ART PROJECTS

Art is of great importance and something we value very highly. We believe that expressing oneself is part of personal sustainability. Therefore it is deeply embedded in our universe. One of the ways we integrate art into our daily life is through print design, where artworks made in our studio are turned into textile prints. Which are digitally printed (a more sustainable printing method) onto carefully selected and environmentally friendly fabrics.

Another way we integrate art into the life of Tales of Anyday is through upcycling projects. We collect a great deal of leftover materials, production cut-offs, small and weird pieces and shapes. And turn them into art pieces that are part of our identity and are exhibited in pop-up events. That way we give life and form to something that would otherwise be waste.
